di·ver·sion | An activity that diverts the mind from tedious or serious concerns; a recreation or pastime.
I love these end of week link roundups! I love reading them on other people’s blogs and I love posting them here as well. I try to keep a good mix of introspective articles and amusing anecdotes. Enjoy!
1 | Forget Body Positivity: How About Body Neutrality?
I loved this post because I always feel like women are forced to love their bodies and for some people who hate their bodies, that’s a big leap to make. Instead, let’s just be neutral.
“My problem with body love, beside the fact that it’s a high standard, is it’s asking women to regulate their emotions, not just their bodies… The times I’m happiest are when I’m not thinking about my body at all.” – Autumn Whitefield-Madrano, Author
2 | Adding this one sentence makes any book instantly better:
One sunny Sunday, the caterpillar was hatched out of a tiny egg. He was very hungry. And then the murders began.
He was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had gone 84 days without taking a fish. And then the murders began.
3 | Just Not Sorry
This is amazing! A Gmail Plug-in that warns you when you write emails using passive words which undermine your message, like “I’m just writing because…” or “I’m sorry to bother you…”
4 | Unfancy: Three common threads that encouraged me about life
Hidden in this outfit post is some sage advice about how to boost your mood when you’re feeling down. I entirely agree with this bit about nature and it’s so perfectly expressed.
“Nature is the perfect shoulder to cry on — she gives permission to feel deeply, while also offering perspective.”
5 | Pig Pen Sedaris
This is hilarious! Evidently David Sedaris has developed quite a reputation as a litter picker so the county where he lives in the UK dedicated a trash truck to him called “Pig Pen Sedaris” complete with giant cartoon pig!
6 | A red and white striped house in Kensington
Love it or hate it?… I think I love it!
7 | Appearing in Stock Photos Was the Biggest Mistake of My Life
This man tells what happened when he became the generic face of everything from horchata to “protestants and terrorists.”
Happy end of week everyone!
