Todd Baxter’s photos are polished to a high gleam. They tell stories which are twisted and sublime, modern fairy tales full of mystery and adventure.

The contrived worlds that Baxter builds bring natural comparisons to Wes Anderson. But, in fact, Baxter’s series Owl Scouts, while it recalls the look and feel of Moonrise Kingdom, came first. Says Baxter, “When I saw the trailer [for Moonrise Kingdom], I felt like I was having an out of body experience.”
