I’ve been working on a fun summer project since 2020. It started when I stumbled upon some funny photos of Salvador Dali at the beach with a lobster on his head. Then I found a photo of Picasso wearing a bull mask at the beach. And I thought these surrealists have too much fun on vacation. Surrealist summer was born. Perfect timing as we were going into a very “surreal” summer with the pandemic.
Surrealist Summer mostly lives on Instagram. I source images and post them there, sometimes decorated, sometimes not, always summer themed. I did take a foray into branded items and a website one year.
Last year I thought I was running out of images so I was halfhearted about it. But this year I’ve found some previously un-shared photos so I thought, let’s go out with a bang.
So I created a few branded items, this time more designed than just a logo slapped on something. And I created a page on my website where I can receive orders and payments. The point isn’t to make money (although if that happens I won’t complain) it’s more to share this weird community and make the last summer a little special.
